I hate HP

And after some basic googling I realise I ain't alone...

Seriously, put an HP Workstation or Server next to a Fujitsu Siemens one, and you'll be surprised how cheap and non-engineered they look. But my personal hatred stems from their drivers. Too huge to be called drivers (more than 40MB for anything but graphics is ridiculous) - not everybody's sitting on 24Mbit lines.. But why would you include three different LAN or VGA drivers for a model located by its supposedly unique S/N? Why do I have to try Broadcom drivers before I download the Intel ones coz the first one didn't work? Why should I have to unscrew every pityful HP PC and try to read mini-letters on onboard chips to determine which drivers I need? Should I memorise chipsets-to-hardware lists so I only need to know the chipset model in order to help HP support personnel do less and get paid more?

Oh, and there are printers that just WON'T work - even with the appropriate, 202MB driver.

Fujitsu Siemens includes a CD (and download) with its machines, which after a clean XP installation, scans your system for required drivers and XP Updates, and installs everything from the CD in 5 minutes flat. No long lists, no multiple drivers, no trials, no errors. Simple.

HP's laziness and unprofessionalism is apparent when you read instructions such as "To use the DeskJet 5550 under Windows VISTA, please use the driver for DeskJet 990" (!) on their support site..

Fuck that. Fix the site (basically your site's DB), fix your drivers, fix your support.
